The weekly recap
What moved, why it moved, and what is noise. Rumours are always published with the company's answer next to them, never the rumour alone.
How the recap works →Two friends in Québec, thinking out loud
Every week we watch a handful of stocks (mostly the AI and semiconductor names) and write down what actually happened, what was just noise, and what to watch next. No jargon. No hype. Numbers in plain sight.
The publication
Five things, done the same way every week.
What moved, why it moved, and what is noise. Rumours are always published with the company's answer next to them, never the rumour alone.
How the recap works →When a name we follow reports (memory chips and SK Hynix, Micron, Meta, Bloom Energy), we read the results and write what changed. Earnings settle arguments; headlines don't.
What we read for →Dividends, buybacks, withholding tax, shareholder-return packages: the mechanics, explained the way we explain them to friends.
Start with the basics →Every piece says, in the open, which of us follows the stock. You should never have to guess where we stand.
The disclosure policy →Pick any stock, index or word, drag across the curve, and see what happened.

The interactive half of Markets North. The maps come first, on purpose: they are the fastest way to see how the AI economy connects.
The AI economy on the planet: chips, clouds, reserves and the sea lanes everything rides on, with a tensions layer.
Who supplies whom behind AI, from ASML's machines to the clouds. Click a company and trace the chain.
Drive any chart yourself: drag across a move, see the known events inside it, and scan for washed out names.
One year of prices for the AI core we track, plus what the big AI models charge per token.
IPOs and pre-IPOs of the AI economy, classified by filing facts: on the pad, in orbit, in the hangar.
This week's Question of the Week and the six Friday Close calls. Vote, then come back after the close for the grading.
What this will never be
No tips. No calls.
Just watching, out loud.
No "top 10 to buy", no signals, no buy or sell calls.
We are not financial advisors, and nothing here is a recommendation for you.
When we don't know, we say so.

The same stock at two prices at once, and the trade that pockets the difference. Interlisted Toronto and New York listings, Norbert's gambit, ETF and merger arbitrage, and why the gap is a wage for speed and risk, not free money.
Both reported after the close on November 3, and both beat and guided higher. AMD's Data Center revenue nearly doubled, Supermicro cleared the top of a range it had already raised, and both stocks rose after hours. The numbers, what they mean, and the read through to Nvidia.
Every AI answer runs on tokens. What a token is, why input and output are priced per million, why the price keeps falling, and why it matters for the chip stocks.
What this is
Markets North began in our daily stock conversations, two friends who have talked markets for years, and in the threads with friends that grew around them. Same habit, bigger room: one weekly recap, notes when the companies we follow report earnings, and plain-language explainers on the mechanics of investing from Canada, like how a TFSA (CELI) or an RRSP (REER) treats US stocks.
It is a hobby, published. We both have day jobs. If a week has nothing interesting in it, there is no post. That is a rule, not a gap.
One email a week, when there is something worth saying. No spam, no selling your address, unsubscribe any time.
